The Road West

IMG_2033 IMG_2042 IMG_2043Just now settling back to life in NC after a wild week-long journey West.

From Monday – Monday, I was in Colorado and Utah. I took time off my normal life and routine here, packed my backpack and went with the full intention of some self-care. I left my computer and work at home, and traveled to a new state (Utah) for love and exploration and time in the wilderness.

I hiked,  snapped a few photos, and even chipped a tooth!

Enjoy this pink sky from a drive across I-70. More to come someday.

“It should not be denied… that being footloose has always exhilarated us. It is associated in our minds with escape from history and oppression and law and irksome obligations, with absolute freedom, and the road has always led West.” – Wallace Stegner

Purple light

IMG_7689Today, I’ve seen purple.

I saw purple when I put on my shirt this morning, I saw purple light when I was meditating in yoga class, I saw purple when I listened to this song, and I saw a lot of purple in this photo.

This weekend was one of the first weekends I’ve had in Chapel Hill and Carrboro this semester. It was all very necessary, all pretty happy. And I spent time with many of the ones I love, I learned how to bake delicious bread, I had the best beer of my life,  I did a good deal of experimental partners yoga, I cleaned out my room//my life, and I found beauty in the tiny things.

I could have been more productive, more efficient. But overall, I was happy to be here and finally get around to unpacking all the weekend bags I’ve had piled up in the corner of my room.

Here’s to getting lost in your bedroom and seeing colors to the brightest and fullest potential. Happy Sunday.

Island visit | Elephanta Island, Maharashtra, India

IMG_6061 IMG_6055 IMG_6052 IMG_6047 IMG_6031 IMG_6018 IMG_5859 IMG_5855 IMG_5853 IMG_5845 IMG_5837I found these images this weekend tucked away in a folder. Early August in India was pretty great.

On this day, so many months ago now, TT, Jess, and I made the short boat ride out to Elephanta Island from Mumbai. What I remember most from this place is the color. Everything seemed to glow.

Today in Chapel Hill, I’m wearing fur and its winter, but its just as bright and sparkly as it was in India on this day.
