Kelly + Trey | Chapel Hill, NC

Kelly and Trey are getting married in April and I am so excited for it!

These two are incredibly fun to take pictures of and their wedding sounds like it is going to be unlike any other I’ve ever photographed before. Thanks Kelly and Trey for being so fun and for braving the cold with me.

“I want to see you.

Know your voice.

Recognize you when you
first come ’round the corner.

Sense your scent when I come
into a room you’ve just left.

Know the lift of your heel,
the glide of your foot.

Become familiar with the way
you purse your lips
then let them part,
just the slightest bit,
when I lean in to your space
and kiss you.

I want to know the joy
of how you whisper
“more”
– Rumi

Lauren + Adam‘s wedding this weekend was entirely them – fun, beautiful, and full of life.

They got married at St. Mark’s Church in Burlington and had a gorgeous, sunny reception at the Hayloft in McLeansville.

I’m in the process of working on their wedding video and will share the final product soon in addition to Lindsey + Jesse’s video from their backyard wedding in Durham last weekend!

The glamorous Buddha

This is the Chauk Htat Gyi pagoda, or reclining Buddha of Burma.

I like to think of it as the glamorous Buddha.

This lovely statue has pink nails, pretty blue eye shadow (or as the two Thai women I met there said, it is a “pretty-eyed Buddha”), and is clothed in glittery gold robe.

The afternoon I went to Chauk Htat Gyi, I didn’t really mean to end up there, but I did. And, as it turns out,  the moment I arrived, the rains started and didn’t stop for the next several hours. Camera and I waited out the rains and I can certainly think of worse places to spend a few hours. By the end of my time, I still couldn’t come to terms with how grand, beautiful, and overall, quiet this place is.

Back to Bangkok

I’m staying at this really quite (cheap and clean) hostel outside the city (*When I say quiet, I mean it too. I think I’m the only guest here).

The trip from Koh Tao (ferry –> bus –> train –> tuktuk) was very long and exhausting, but I still managed to spend most of my day traveling around and seeing new streets in Bangkok. So far, I’m really impressed by this city. It is full of far more surprises than I imagined and I am glad to be back for a little bit longer.

The other week, I met up with Jennifer to walk around historic Beaver Dam, Davidson College’s campus, and a lovely farm in Davidson. I’ve known Jennifer since she was just a toddler and it is crazy that she’s now graduating high school and preparing for her next four years at NC State.

Jennifer is gorgeous and so fun to take photos of! I keep trying to convince her that she should seriously consider modeling.

What I loved seeing most was Jennifer interact with Bournie and all the other animals on the farm. She’s so impressively comfortable and calm around them and they all seem to love her fully.
