The Road West

IMG_2033 IMG_2042 IMG_2043Just now settling back to life in NC after a wild week-long journey West.

From Monday – Monday, I was in Colorado and Utah. I took time off my normal life and routine here, packed my backpack and went with the full intention of some self-care. I left my computer and work at home, and traveled to a new state (Utah) for love and exploration and time in the wilderness.

I hiked,  snapped a few photos, and even chipped a tooth!

Enjoy this pink sky from a drive across I-70. More to come someday.

“It should not be denied… that being footloose has always exhilarated us. It is associated in our minds with escape from history and oppression and law and irksome obligations, with absolute freedom, and the road has always led West.” – Wallace Stegner

Here and now

ktm

Last night I had dinner with a stranger.

We talked about how all travelers want the same thing out of Nepal. We talked about who would come to our funeral. . . But, most of all we talked about love.

Love of self.

Love of place.

And above all, love for others.

“Love is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise. If love were only a feeling, there would be no basis for the promise to love each other forever. A feeling comes and it may go. How can I judge that it will stay forever, when my act does not involve judgment and decision.” – Erich Fromm

Going forth now in to this big, soaked city for a meeting. As always, in this city i love, I am confidant an adventure awaits.

Also, need to still go and figure out my fourth visa for Nepal. My passport is getting fat with pink stickers and strange entry and re-entry dates.

this was my first of many incredible sunrises and sunsets in indo.

i’ve been thinking a lot these days about why i am attracted to what i am and what i want out of this life. i know deep down that i was born to wander, take my time, and never take for granted the little joys in life.

i like:
